There is no higher point in Mario platforming than this, and given the height of galactic situations, only something far off the spectrum like Super Mario Micro or Super Mario Universe ad nauseam could possibly topple it in terms of scale and evolution in game design.
It is simply the most incredible game. As soon as you start in a lovely celebration you can feel the atmosphere and how just amazing and well put together everything truly is. Then one second later you realize this isn't just some "your princess is in another castle" kind of Mario game, but you are literally saving the entire galaxy. One of the highlights is the MUSIC. THE MUSIC IS PERFECT. From the opening level to the last. It contains feelings of relaxation, enjoyment to anger and distress. It truly ties the entire thing together. I won't get into the story because I think that is something that you yourself have to truly experience on your own but all I will say is that it is absolutely brilliant. One of the best games ever created and I 100% recommend picking it up.
If you enjoy playing the best, then you absolutely need to play Super Mario Galaxy. It's our favorite Wii game this year, and a strong contender for the best game of the year.
Super Mario Galaxy is not only the best game on the Wii, but it's one of the best games ever made. Few titles have quite the level of pure creativity mixed with "wow" moments like Galaxy does.
Nintendo has crafted a platform game that, while not as technologically pioneering as its grandfather, is, level for level, more fun to play than "Mario 64." [Dec 2007, p.128]
The most nostalgic game I have ever played. This game is the reason why I’m a huge Mario fan today. It may not have the fancy movement of 64 and Sunshine, but the level design makes it to where you don’t need it thanks to its more linear design. Despite being linear, the game throws in ideas after ideas and it just helps make this game so much fun to play. The characters, the visuals, and especially the music just make this game so memorable. And it’s still a blast to play even 16 years after its release. If you have not played it, go play it right now.
Hate me all you want, but this is my least favorite mario game ever. This would be a 4/10 for me, but i'll give it a 7/10 because of childhood memories.
It was fun as a kid but we arent 10 years old now. We should move on mediocrity and have our own criticial look at the games. And this one of the most mindnubingly boring game nintendo have ever developed. None of the ideas are actually fun to experience and nothing about the level designs is engaging
[OBJECTIVE QUALITY REVIEW] The controls with the planetary movement just had little if any heart put into them - they simply don't work well when upside down. They should just keep moving in the same direction when GOING upside down and then work 'normally' when ALREADY upside down. Also, the graphics, despite looking realistic, and admittedly even more so than Odyssey's, aren't the best either. Also, and especially considering the aforementioned controls, some challenges of the galaxies in the game are punishing, rather than difficult - because they either require unnecessary amounts of precision, or just simple leave you with no real choice or direction on how to deal with them, at least not right-off-the-bat. Overall, as a result of all of this, the only real reason to get engaged in this game in the long run is completing the main game - the post-game is just boring, tedious, and frustrating to deal with as a whole. Fans that rate this game high should try out other galaxy-style games and compare them, and maybe they'll find the latter objectively better than the former. What a shame.
