Provided you fall into the target demographic, there's a lot to love about Kinect Rush. No matter if you are slapping on your superhero tights in The Incredibles, or racing a co-op buddy with Mater and crew in Cars, you can be sure to have some fun, and get one heck of a workout in the process.
Absolutely great game with very good and intuitive Kinect controls. The games have perfect graphics that look exactly like the animated movies by Pixar. Excellent. I can recommend to everyone who ever enjoyed Pixar movies and has a Xbox 360 with Kinect.
Your enjoyment of Kinect Rush: A Disney/Pixar Adventure will be dependent on how much you like the activities. On one hand, each level features a myriad of activities, and even though they all feature constant forward movement, they're varied enough that you'll rarely do long stretches of the same activity. On the other hand, the levels are fairly short, and the chances that you'll want to replay them so soon after finishing the title can be pretty slim. If you have young kids who are huge fans of the Pixar movies, the repetitive nature isn't a big deal and they'll have a blast with the game. Otherwise, it's a good rental for older Pixar fans.
A more than decent game, but without much innovation. It is a great game for kids, although it has some problems in the control, and achieves to transmit the visual spectacle of the original movies, although we miss some more different gameplay elements.
One of the best Kinect games so far and also one of the most successful Pixar tie-ins. Kids will love it and it'd take a seriously cynical adult not to feel the same way.
The game does a great job in conveying the feeling of being inside the world of Pixar, but it offers little narrative coherence and the gameplay is boring, which will gradually lose its interest.
I think that the game is good, with some mistakes, but is good, have 5 amazing movies, in that you can revive the scenes of the films. One of the problems is the simple gameplay, yes is addictive, but is simple. The graphics are amazing, music, sound. The control is good, but don't be the better answer. Kinect Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure is a great title for kids, and yeah is better than Disneyland Adventures. But I believe that in the next game can be better.
Kinect Rush: A Disney-Pixar Adventure, it's a game which uses mandatory the Kinect (no options for standard controller), and it is pretty cool: basically you create a character, a child in the case, which can be scanned from yourself, with the Kinect, and that passes into a theme park, with scenarios based on the animations that are mentioned: Cars , Ratatouille, The Incredibles, Toy Story and Up!
The graphics are very good in parts of the scenarios of the animations, outside it, in the Park, the game resembles the Kinect Adventures Disneyland ones; in the animations scenarios to each "set" you are transformed into one of the characters (eg: Ratatouille you are a mouse), and the actions are based in mini-games.
The sounds and music are very well done, as in the animations in question.
The gameplay, obviously aims at the target public, and is simple: you use the trunk to turn, and moves his arms to run (also the legs to go faster). And for each phase can be some variation of it - I do not know if it was only here (or if the problem is me, since the game would be for children), but the controls to run it is not very accurate...
Well, to resume: a game oriented towards children, and that allows more than one player, which makes it ideal for those who like to play with their children, especially those who love the animations of Pixar (and which child do not like them?) - specifically for these cases recommended, my score is 7.5 / 10.0.
Although the game itself is targeted towards kids, I found this game easily boring. However, like most other Disney Kinect games, it would have been far much better with a controller.
Bought this for a Christmas present for my kids b/c it was on sale, thinking they would love it based on the description. It spent about 30 minutes in the system before my kids turned it off in frustration, and we spent 20 of those minutes simply trying to set up in-game avatars for them.
This game is terrible because the Kinect is terrible. I am so sick of the Kinect. It ****. It’s a failure. I should have learned my lesson with the atrocious Kinect Star Wars, but no. My fault. The biggest problem with Kinect is that 99% of its games are designed for kids but it requires the patience & precision of an adult to use. If you are old enough to get around all of its annoying quirks, you are not going to be interested in playing the kiddie Kinect games. If, like my kids, you are age appropriate for the games, the Kinect will be a frustrating obstacle to gameplay and you’ll be switching back to a controller-operated game after a few minutes.
Anyway, this specific game is for up to two players, and is supposed to scan them into the Pixar world with the Kinect camera. It vaguely does that. The avatar it made for one of my kids looked a little bit like him but not really. You can change some of the avatar’s features manually, but the Kinect menu interfaces are so frustrating to use we skipped that. The Kinect flat out refused to scan in my other son. At one point you have to stand up straight with your arms & legs spread out, inside a green outline. My son did that, several times but the Kinect refused to register his knees or elbows. It only gives you a few seconds to complete this scan before popping up an error message and forcing you to start the process all the way over again from the beginning. We spent most of our time slogging through this process and I wanted to snap the Kinect in half.
Then we got to the actual game, which wasn’t much better than navigating the menus. Kids tend to jump around as they try to have fun with the game, but the Kinect penalizes you for that. My kids would get too far forward or too far right or left, and they had a lot of trouble with the controls. The gameplay is also repetitive and confusing. You run your avatar around with characters from various Pixar movies and are presented with puzzles, sometimes given with no hints. That would be all right for an adult, but it’s not fun for a 5-year old. One puzzle involved having to jump up on a little raised platform, and the controls are so awful my kids were not able to do it. They’d either jump past it, over it, or they’d jump and the Kinect wouldn’t recognize they were jumping.
If you want a fun Kinect game for your kids, get Kinect Party. Even if you manage to get through the avatar creation menus in Kinect Rush, there is no reward waiting for you in playing the actual game. Hopefully I can get a dollar or two for this junk on trade in.
