Minecraft Dungeons is a bright and colourful dungeon crawler, with interesting enemies and fast, frantic combat. It doesn't bring anything new to the genre, and takes away quite a lot of its complexities, leaving us with a simple, accessible, unremarkable yet still fun game.

I’d expect more creativity from Minecraft and a longer campaign from a Diablo clone. Still, the result is an interesting hybrid especially for those not willing to brave the dark depths of Diablo or Path of Exile.
Minecraft Dungeons is a capable all-ages dungeon crawl that, while doesn’t use its license to anything like its full potential (see Dragon Quest Builders 2 for how to do it right), is still good fun once it gets moving. The variety of enemies keeps you on your toes, and the various skills and weapons make for plenty of experimentation in figuring out the best way to take them on. Each level has at least a couple of secrets to chase after, ranging from obvious to head-scratchingly obscure, and finding everything while collecting all the gear will keep players busy for hours whether fighting single- or multiplayer. Just be aware that if you’ve got any experience with the genre, the difficulty selections on the levels are there for a reason. The younger crowd deserves a good intro to the world of dungeon crawling and Minecraft Dungeons provides that nicely.
Minecraft Dungeons is a perfect game for young players who haven't had a chance to play the Diablo series yet. Otherwise it is just an untraditional take on the hack n' slash RPGs with something to keep you interested for a while. [Issue#304]
Minecraft dungeons has what it takes to be an amazing dungeon crawler but ends up falling flat. Weak and short story, basic combat, not enough levels. This feels like it had the potential to be something better.
My Score:
(7,5) - Good.

Unfortunately a little repetitive, but also fun. I would recommend it to big Minecraft fans.
It has a very fun game concept, I love the simplified dungeon crawler aspect. It's also incredibly fun and easy to play with my kids which was the main selling feature when I bought it. The story isn't incredibly engaging but it seems to be getting better with the DLCs which is a welcome surprise. If it were stable, I'd rate it about a 7.5. That being said, it's an incredibly unstable game and seems to be getting worse with time. It crashes about every other level in the middle of the level causing you to potentially lose as much as a half an hour worth of progress. Every single time we play our game night is ended with the frustration of it crashing and we don't bother trying again. The development team has known for the 10 months since release but isn't responsive so I don't hold much hope that it gets fixed.

I'm actually very happy with MCD, but many things bother me .. Well, first of all I want to deal with the crap with Cloud Saving. As far as I know, Nintendo Switch, Playstation 4 & Xbox One have Cloud Saving, but absolutely nothing is noticeable among PC gamers (including myself). I've already started the second character because the first one is gone forever. Today I lost an hour of progress on the second character, because saving it to the USB stick can, well, be very quick. Well, and I had my old score overwritten to the new one and lost damn good items. This dirt must stop. After all, it is MICROSOFT who manages the game. They have more than enough money to buy Cloud Saving for PC, but NO, of course, that will not be the case with Release.
Now we come to repetitive gameplay. Everywhere only the same opponents are appearing. If you are extremely unlucky, these magicians, which create the explosive pillars and the ones that don't explode also like to appear around five to ten times. And that happens all the time in the "Fiery Forge" and in the "Cacti Canyon". Just unfair if you are completely locked up, have to stand next to 3 explosive pillars and then also watch your hero die. Alone the game from the middle of "Adventure" to the end of "Apocalypse" is almost impossible to beat. Sure, it's supposed to be a challenge, but if you're just being penned in and pounded by crossbowmen, there's no point trying to enjoy the game. I will continue to try to get ahead, but the motivation/desire will be significantly lower. By the way, some bosses * cough cough, that of the Fiery Forge and the final boss, cough cough * are way too strong, because they either spawn minions / ads or cause infinite damage, even if you use the iron hide amulet.
SummaryWhat exactly is Minecraft: Dungeons? It's an all-new action-adventure game inspired by classic dungeon crawlers, where you'll constantly discover new weapons and items that will help you defeat a ruthless swarm of new-and-nasty mobs. You'll fight or flee through canyons, swamps and of course mines. You can brave the dungeons alone, or te...
