Arcade Paradise is something rather special. Its mixture of playful management sim and arcade gaming works incredibly well, and it’s all so nicely presented that you’ll easily forgive its few flaws. Whether you get swept up in keeping your laundrette and arcade running as well as possible, or whether you find yourself addicted to a particular arcade cabinet, you’re going to love your time here. And considering its bargain price, it really doesn’t get much better than this.
This video game is not a tribute to the arcade… it's a tribute to you! Young little boy born in the 70s and for whom the arcades were often much more pleasant than your own house!! Only you have these 40 years of gaming knowledge! Arcade and more!
Only you and this life of passion for video games, for 40 years, will make you recognize the hundreds of references, often mixed and crossed!
This game is the possibility of living the dream of traveling in time 40 years in the past, of working to become the manager of an arcade room, of being able to play everything that made up an arcade room !
And the trophies will motivate you even more to become good, to develop skill, in each of these games!
You will find most of the video games of these eras! Mixed and mixed to avoid copyright issues! But you will recognize them! In fact, in general, several arcade games are mixed in a "pixel art / retro" version that will have to be mastered, often by unlocking new abilities!
This game probably is a 7 or 8 out of 10 for young gamers.. but it is a 100 out of 10 for old gamers like me !
Having this game platinum was a delight!
Thanks to the devs of this unique game!
It was everything I was expecting it to be! I should of started playing it sooner! When I watched the trailer I was like, "Yep, that game was made for me!" As soon as I expanded my arcade and had over 5 arcade machines going I was hooked. The game kept me interested the entire time. The grind of it is just so much fun and as you make progress the game slowly gives you more to do, and you don't really get that overwhelming feeling as you go with some simulator games. The game designer did a good job of just gradually getting you into it. There is that constant routine every new day, but once you get going you are just interested in getting those daily tasks done, and most the time you're just playing arcade games. Now some of the arcade games are spin offs of the classics, but I will tell you this Racer Chaser is an awesome combination of Pac-Man meets GTA! I could go on and on, but I don't want to spoil the game for you. I will say this, it is a great game for when you just need to take a break from anything from CoD to Diablo.
I am so pleased that this game was exactly what I expected and I give it a perfect score just for that reason alone. If you're into simulator games you got to try this, if you love going to old school style arcades you got to try this, and if you're nostalgic for the 90's you got to try this game! I spent 5 hours playing it on the first play, and I want to keep on playing but sadly I got to sleep too!
Arcade Paradise is a superb management sim that puts you in the shoes of both the arcade manager and the player. Whether you are an old arcade head like me or somebody who can only view things through a historic lens, there is so much to enjoy here. Once you get past the necessary grind of the opening hours the game opens up to become an almost encyclopaedic slice of arcade life. Even when you’ve upgraded the arcade, there are always high scores to chase too.
If you’re nostalgic for the 90s and genuinely enjoy minigame compilations, Arcade Paradise is utterly essential. The title’s tongue-in-cheek tycoon gameplay and simulator window dressing serve as the backdrop for dozens upon dozens of video game parodies, spanning a GTA-style Pac-Man clone through to an OutRun-inspired futuristic racer. Not every idea shines, but the sheer density of content alone means you’ll never get bored. And with an addictive progression system that’s forever tempting you with something shiny on the horizon, this release actually lives up to its name: it’s truly an arcade paradise.
The management simulation of a laundromat that is slowly turning into an arcade center is a great homage to some earlier times that, like a dream, mix and match two different decades and several generations of arcades and even consoles into one trippy mix.
Arcade Paradise is a very unique game built for a very unique audience, and the fact that it can't keep a steady gameplay rhythm throughout makes it even more unlikely to please just any body. But for those who grew up when Arcade machines were dominating the entertainment industry, it will be a great experience to run and develop an Arcade store.
With bugs, crashes and far too much waiting around, Arcade Paradise really tries to capture some of the highs of old arcades but never really manages to understand the joy that comes from it.
This game has everything I want. The music of the 80s and 90s is a real past. The hours fly by, and it's not repetitive at all. You always have new challenges and upgrades to complete with over 35 arcades of all varieties. You also receive emails from other users challenging you to beat their scores (damn Sam hahaha).
