There’s a way of looking at this movie, a colossal tale of the sociopathy of American history, that’s a matter of listening to what’s said and what isn’t. The movie raises the idea of silence to a nearly transcendent pitch of passion.
This is a master artist putting a stamp on not only his own career, but also the entirety of American cinema and, why not, American history, too.

Lifting his camera to survey the wide open plains of the past, Scorsese extracts an epic Western from horrible real-life crimes committed against the Native American Osage tribe of, latterly, Oklahoma, delivering something biblical, human, yet deeply inhumane.
Killers of the Flower Moon is a fast, fierce, and unapologetic gut punch that centers the horrific abuse suffered by the Osage nation at the hands of those who were entitled to nothing and thought themselves worthy of everything.
Even amid its flaws — Scorsese’s sprawling focus leaving some characters in the dust, most of them the very indigenous Americans this film purports to speak for — Killers of the Flower Moon remains a staggering work of cinema.
Bolstered by a strong cast and a luscious color palette and landscape, Killers of the Flower Moon is worthy of a watch for those who can look past its romanticization. For those looking for a film that puts Native American voices and characters on center stage or a more comprehensive story, continue moving on, even with three-and-a-half hours, this is not that film.
Ms. Gladstone draws a lot of sympathy as the modest, helpless Mollie, but like everything else here her performance suffers from inertia. She spends the bulk of the movie mired in illness and despondency, and her look mirrors how I felt as I watched: numb and trapped.
A strange, frustrating hybrid, lacking sustained focus. The story might have been more effectively told from the point of view of the Osage, but today that would be impossible: charges of appropriation and racism would be sure to follow. The movie does have the rare virtue of finally casting Leo DiCaprio in a role which suits him, as a dim-witted good old boy who actually does love, in his puny inconsistent way, the wife he's systematically poisoning on his uncle's instructions. DeNiro is, unfortunately, a distraction. The movie itself offered better choices for the role.

Twenty minutes into the movie there's no decipherable plot. At about the 17 minute mark the movie includes "music" where the we get to endure 2 or 3 minutes of a non-stop train whistle. Abandoned. I won't endure another minute of this. Scorsese is deaf and possibly needs to retire from making films all together.

So much money spent on something so dramatically unsound. The movie has no point of you about the appalling Osage murders other than “murder bad.”
Switching the focus of the narrative from the FBI investigation, which is the focus of the book, to that of Leonardo DiCaprio‘s character. Ernest, could have yielded compelling drama. Ostensibly, Ernest is a man stuck between love of his wife and a powerful uncle and his own culture. But that is never portrayed. A great romance could have given the story great conflict. Instead, we have a mere chronicling of events with little drama or conflict attached, and we are denied the whodunit fund of an investigation. Add to that the stars are both far too old for their roles. DiCaprio‘s character. Should be in his early 20s – again someone younger and more naïve might have faced a greater moral and dramatic challenge. Here, his wife to be quick quickly labels him as a coyote, and she’s right. We have no idea why she would ever consent to marry him.
An obscure and tragic piece of historydoes not inherently make for great drama. I want my 3.5 hours back - was very tempted to walk out, and if I haven’t been with my husband, I wouldand if I hadn’t been with my husband, I would have have.
