Good Burger 2 certainly isn’t a masterpiece, but Kenan & Kel still have the special sauce that makes this film work.

Good Burger 2 is a time machine that takes its audience back to a time before adulting became a verb or a burden. And on that front, it succeeds. Not always with flying colors, but just enough for a pleasurable distraction during a chaotic holiday season.

Good Burger 2 is a sentimental slapstick sequel chock full of fun cameos and absurdity, yet it doesn’t divert itself enough from the familiar path. It serves up little more than nostalgia, with some solid laughs but too little that are memorable.

Thompson and Mitchell's famed Abbott & Costello-style riffing and Mitchell's eternally endearing portrayal of Ed still make Good Burger 2 a largely satisfying Good Meal.

It’s the lame jokes and repetitive dialogue that keep it from landing any laughs. The cast is essentially left stranded, mugging for the cameras as they desperately try to compensate for the undercooked script.

Even when it’s not selling its past self, Good Burger 2 is selling something. It’s what makes it a hard movie to root for, even when it lucks into saying the right things: It tosses one money-grubbing trend in the trash while ordering all the others directly off the menu.
