Mega Man 11 is truly a memorable experience and is one of Mega’s finest adventures and it is highly recommended. The 8 bosses are all clever in design and their levels are very appropriate as well. Even if one made me almost rage quit. (Yes, you Bounce Man!) In a year with amazing games, I can see Mega Man 11 in my top 5 of 2018.
Those burned by Keiji Inafune's Mighty No. 9 are bound to find solace in Mega Man 11's charming grace. New twists and quality-of-life mechanics make this one of the series' best offerings to date.
As always something that must be stated is **** Dr. Light, he is a horrible inventor that doesn't care about the laws of robotics. Legitimately the fact this opens up on the reason why Dr. Light and Dr. Wily broke up, as a team and sudden headcanon lovers, is the fact that neither side wanted to hear the others ideas and the board picked Light's over Wily's. Dr. Wily is honestly a victim of circumstance, and Dr. Light caused him to be a villain, no joke.Okay, but like why am I rambling about the personal conflicts of 2 **** scientists? Well largely because that is the core of this game's story, and while Mega Man is super scarce on lore; any that it gets is always an interesting element that resonates throughout the series. While it is a bit odd that it took so long to find out this lore bit, let alone through a dream Wily had, feels a bit like an ass pull, but honestly a lot of inventing just be that way. Altogether though, the game has a nice ending that wraps such a conflict in a neat bow and gives at least some sort of pay off that I honestly don't think any other Mega Man game pulled off before it.Mega Man 11's core gameplay is thankfully the same robust jumping and shooting that we have grown to love from the blue bomber. The personality of each robot master is fun to see, and the weapons not only reflect them, but are useful to boot. 11 also has a super new and honestly welcomed addition to the gameplay, GEARS. Using said gears you can go into a power mode or speed mode. Power mode is useful for powering up your weapons, and can really help take down bosses and enemies super fast. Speed mode is far more versatile tho, giving Mega Man the ability to slow down enemies, platforms, environments, and the like to the point that sometimes it's just better to use speed mode for harder parts of the level compared to on a boss.Really Mega Man 11 is a wonderful edition to the Mega Man franchise, and honestly with how careful they craft the Mega Man games, I'd say the classic series has been pretty great since Mega Man 9. The game also has a few additional modes and challenges that will even given a veteran Mega Man player a run for their money. Speaking of which, 11 is absolutely worth your money to get and play.
This deftly made return to Mega
Man revives the core series
beyond being a novel retro
throwback, giving it a gorgeous
coat of fresh paint at the same
time. [Issue#155, p.94]
Aside from a few minor platforming quirks thanks to the introduction of the third dimension, this is still the Blue Bomber that you’ve come to know and love. But don’t let the gorgeous presentation fool you, because it will still mercilessly kick your dick in with remorseless gusto.
So there are some neat little features to the newest Mega Man. However, while it's the kind of game that series fans should enjoy, there just isn’t enough to bring it to a new audience.
hear me out on this one
this is a short and fun game, my main problem with it is the the bad collision detection with the platforming, the blockman stage being a good example, when the blocks fall into the conveyor belt, after destroying all the obstructing blocks i still get stopped from advancing because of "invisible walls" because of the imprecise collision and hitbox detection, excuse me capcom but thats the most important mechanic in a platforming game, i had another similar issue in the bounce man stage, the bouncing mechanic of that stage was not great at all it ruined an otherwise fun stage!!
thats why i give it a 7 out of 10, if not for the aforementioned issues and short lifespan of the game, i would give it a 8.5 out of 10,
the game is still fun the different weapons are a blast, the bestiary is creative, boss and megaman transformation designs great, the replay value is there thanks to the power ups accessible post game
I could have done without the dual gear system. Over-complicating Mega Man just takes away from that classic, simplified feel.
I don't know how to say the next part without sounding like an idiot, but I found the game to be too hard then way too easy. The levels drag on forever and the bosses aren't exactly cakewalks. But once you discover the store you can make yourself unkillable.
+ Unique bosses and levels that fit the gimmick
+ Music
+ Platforming
- Dual gear system
- Levels on the long side
- Shop makes game too easy
Clunky controls, knockback that makes me cringe... everytime I get hit down a pit... And there's ALOT of that going on, in *THIS* Megaman game...
Play the Megaman Legacy collections... They're much better, and funner... than THIS annoying PAIN: in the Blue Bomber.
I love Mega Man.... that must be why I hate him so much.
For some strange reason Mega Man 11 yet again ditches the fixed difficulty we experienced in 9, instead opting for a Difficulty Selection menu (laughs). It's not even a difficulty selection, because all the game modes past Easy are don't even alter the difficulty one bit; it just makes energy pellets drop less and less. One difficulty just makes you start the stage over. I don't even think Mega Man 10's Hard mode was that brutal. You would think that Capcom would have more respect for it's flagship mascot, but this was apparently a budget title and it shows pretty regularly. Oh right, the gear system, It's there I guess. I mean it comes in handy only about 9 or 10 times in the game, but I found myself trying not to use it most of the time. Also, the the final battle with Dr. Wily isn't even that memorable. I played it like back in 2018, but I can't even remember what it was. The whole game just seems forgettable and it makes me sad. If this is where the future of Mega Man games are headed, I think I'd rather go back to the games before it.
SummaryThirty years ago, in 1987, a super robot named Mega Man was created. In 2018 after 30 years of unforgettable adventures the fight for everlasting peace continues! The tight action-platformer gameplay that made the series a success is alive and well. To save the day, the Blue Bomber must battle Robot Masters and take their powerful weapon...
