Forgive the obvious pun, but Sonic Dream Team is a dream come true for Sonic fans. While it runs a bit on the short side, those looking for some classic high speed Sonic action will welcome this homecoming.
Sonic Dream Team manages to be a notable Sonic experience perfectly suited for Apple Arcade. Its levels are thoughtfully designed for fast-paced exploration, though they are best navigated with a controller rather than touch controls. The game cleverly incorporates a variety of gimmicks and alternate paths into its design, ensuring that each level remains engaging even upon multiple playthroughs. This game is a testament to the enduring appeal of the Sonic franchise, offering a nostalgic yet fresh adventure that both new and long-time fans will enjoy.
For clarification, I am reviewing this game for what it is, being a mobile game, and not as a AAA game. I think this game is perfect. Although it doesn't have crazy highs, it doesn't have any flaws. The level design is perfect with the branching pathways. The different missions for each stage, and sections of stages that require different characters to access encourage replay ability. While the story is very straight forward and predictable, it isn't bad by any means and has pretty good writing. This game is also shockingly polished with smooth controls and animations. And yes, there is momentum, and while it isn't SA1 levels of momentum gameplay, it really isn't meant to be. It's more meant to be so the level flow remains constant. In conclusion, if this game was meant to be a AAA game sold on next gen consols, I'm would probably rank this a 7/10 due to the fact that it does nothing special but as. A mobile game, it does its job flawlessly. I'd even say the devs outdid themselves because it's just a mobile game and did not need to be comparable at all to AAA 3d platformers the way it is.
Amazing game. Enjoyed the smooth gameplay. Each level feels fresh. Story is simple but very intriguing and fun. Graphics are great, soundtrack is amazing
Superb level design and bite-sized missions make Sonic Dream Team one of the most fun, creative, and enjoyable 3D platformers I’ve played in a long time.
Despite a barebones story, this is the 3D Sonic games fans have been waiting for for a long time. Solid graphics, great voice acting, tight assisted gameplay (to help from jumping off rails) and really fun boss fights make this a game worth investing your time into.
Sonic Dream Team is a full-fledged 3D platformer that wouldn't look out of place in the main series, although it is perhaps more focused on form than substance.
Sonic Dream Team deserves appreciation. In short, it’s not the worst, but it’s certainly not the best either, with just enough here to satisfy classic Sonic fans and those seeking to experience the hedgehog’s adventure in 3D.
One of the best mobile games and sonic games ive played in some time now from the story levels and animation this is on par with a console game and should get ported too.
