From the casting to the writing to the production design, we get the adaptation of The Lightning Thief that we have been wanting for over a decade to see, and there is nowhere to go but up.
More than worthy of its source material and the massive mythology behind it.

The new series certainly isn’t perfect, but it succeeds in shaking off the specter of the earlier films. .... Above all, 2023’s Percy Jackson and the Olympians promises to be faithful—and, coming from a longtime Riordan hive member, that’s the best thing it can be.
“Percy Jackson and the Olympians” probably won’t be the next big thing, but enough kids will enjoy it, and maybe even learn a bit along the way.
Percy Jackson and the Olympians gets off to a fun and well-paced start, but it's a rather generic example of the coming-of-age fantasy formula.
This show will be fighting to survive in challenging terrain. But in the two episodes provided for review, at least, we’re off to an encouraging start.
The plot points, at least based on the four episodes made available to press for review, map neatly onto the novel. Largely missing from this new adaptation, though, are Percy’s whip-smart, sassy narrative voice, the coherent world-building of the novels, and, most importantly, Riordan’s quicksilver pacing.
Great adaptation of the amazing book!
I absolutely adore the score and the end credits, and I love the vibe of this series.
There are some scenes left out that I really would have liked to see on screen, but other than that I don’t have anything negative to say about the show!
C’mon Disney greenlight season 2 already

Heavily expository dialog, slow pacing, odd framing of scenes--why so many shots from behind when characters are speaking?--and clumsy fight choreography are just some of the factors that prevented me from enjoying the first two episodes of a show I was eagerly anticipating. I can't believe I'm saying this, but I prefer the admittedly flawed film.

I have viewed the (2) Episode Premire and have concluded the intent to undo the betrayal of the movies to the source material is a major fail. The author of the books has stated they were against the casting of adults to play the child characters of the books. Now you have the opportunity to have more say in the series and you cast the children yet still do what the movies did and play to the hollywood template of drama and basic character stupidity. I am not watching a reimagine book, I am watching the same story told with children and different adult actors. These TV Series are no more challenging than attempting to walk blindfolded.
