In a world full of games trying to stand out, Final Fantasy XVI has no problem rising above the rest. Wonderfully fun combat and beautiful presentation help make the excellent story even more impactful in an adventure well worth the price of admission. This is one that will surely sit with players for many years to come and will surely be one for the history books.
Final Fantasy VII Remake and Final Fantasy XVI are the main reasons, why i got interested in FF series at all. These games are phenomenal and i'm extremely hyped for Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Anyone who hates these games and only praises old games, needs to find new gaming series for themselves or give up gaming. Just because you don't like/enjoy these games, doesn't mean that they are bad. Hell no. That's just your personal problem. Don't like it? Don't play it. There's millions of people who don't like games, that you like, but these people don't complain and whine like you do.
New numbered FFs are good again. Stunning
to look at, with new, punchy combat, and a
great yarn, it is, if anything, too focussed,
lacking a bit of the weird. [Issue#30, p.78]
Nothing short of a technical marvel, Clive Rosfield and Torgal are among some of the best character action duos and their 70-hour epic adventure across Valisthea will forever be remembered in Final Fantasy XVI
Final Fantasy XVI is a fantastic adventure, but slightly irregular. There are some aspects that prevent it from being on the podium with the best entries in the franchise, but, when it is over, it leaves a great aftertaste that makes you forget about those imperfections.
Final Fantasy 16 is a massive game that, in many ways, feels like a response to years of rocky terrain. This is one of the most beloved series in gaming, but one that has had big ups and downs, especially in recent memory.
Final Fantasy XVI delivers on the “action” side of its action-RPG formula. A fierce and fast-paced combat system makes for the series’ most exciting stab at real-time swordplay yet, while its blockbuster Eikon fights rank among some of gaming’s most awe-inspiring battles. But there’s a general flatness surrounding those exhilarating highs, as shallow RPG hooks and dated design leave a promising evolution for the series stuck in the past.
Honestly, if they go back to that turn-based combat with next game, then i'm done with this series. I will be just glad that they made three amazing modern FF games- FF 7 remake, FF 16 and FF7 Rebirth. These games are masterpieces and that's all i care about. But if FF 17 is turn-based, i would never buy it and i'm sure millions of others wouldn't as well. It would be only popular among small group of nostalgic fanboys, who hate modern FF games. Baldur's Gate 3 success had nothing to do with turn-based combat, in fact, that was most disliked aspect of that game for lots of people.
Calling FF16 an RPG is a travesty, especially when judged by FF standards. It is a bloated Action game with very little RPG elements, containing tons of uninspired side quests.
The main story is OK, but the throwback nostalgia-yanking rehash of old names and 8-bit characters is a wool over old eyes to guide them to another genre of gaming.
It is the only FF game which I paused – disappointed - to start playing Baldur’s Gate 3 (a true RPG). I never looked back and finished BG3 clocking 120 hour, taking in all it has to offer. So after that, I dreaded going back to the FF game (I'm a completionist).
Knowing that BG3 deserves a 10 score, I have to give FF a 6.5 or 7 at most, and that’s being very generous.
The Cons:
- Flashy seizure-inducing fight scenes, with cinematic button pushes, not an RPG makes.
- Massive time-wasting tactics being used to bloat the game, such as vast bland territories that force you to scream at the screen when you realize that your character needs 20 seconds to prime their sprint, while stuck in a brisk-walk mode, traversing miles upon miles for no reason but to waste time.
- Uninspired: ability/skills, items, gear for character-evolving graphics, and side quests consisting of get/bring that to there.
The Pros: the story is OK, if you can get through the slogfest.
Playing this game feels like a chore. The combat seems really cool at first, but it's ultimately very shallow. Just repeat the same combos the entire game.
This game is not an RPG. The side quests are incredibly bland. But worst of all, this game completely lacks any and all charm that has always defined the series since forever. There's no humor, there's no levity, there's no joy. Everyone and everything is deadly serious, always.
The game starts pretty well, but just slowly gets worse as it lingers. The Eikon battles are truly epic, but unfortunately there are only a few of them, separated by hours of dour dialogue, and repetitive combat.
I really was hopeful for this game, given how excellent FF7 Remake turned out, but by the time I reached the final boss, who I wanted to defeat solely to put an end to his excessively verbose monologues, I just wanted to move on to something else.
Overall, just a depressing, chore ****.
Character look like background characters. Boring hairstyles and dull clothing.
Dialogue was a bit to corny. Like when Clyve told Sid he wanted to die. The dialogue was so annoying i had to force myself thru it. Also the scene where clyve was naked inthe cave and sid came to give him new motivation.
Gameplay got me bored after a few hours even after i got more eons.
Story was not my type of genre. It felt like game of thrones meets final fantasy. Did not enjoy most of the cast cause i dont like the political aspect about human rights and war. I couldn’t relate to it or take it seriously.
No playable party and small party! That hurt.
4 and thats for visuals And music.
