Coppola’s talent is in taking this story — much harder-edged when translated to Versailles — and giving it the rosy sheen of a girl’s memory, of feeling the intensity of a star’s rays on her so keenly that there’s nothing to do but bask in it, at least for a while.
The daring thing Coppola does, given that we’re used to seeing even sophisticated biopics weave the lives they’re showing us into dramatic arcs, is to present the rise and fall of Priscilla and Elvis’s relationship as a diary, one that simply flows forward in a kind of objective Zen fashion, never trumping anything up.

An amazingly spellbinding perfection!! Sofia Coppola crafts one of the most distinctively sublime biopic, with the solid faithfulness in perspective like a true master of cinema. Undoubtly, if "Lost in Translation" is Sofia Coppola's #1 best film of her directing career..., "Priscilla" will certianly place right behind it as her #2 best!!

My favorite film of the year so far. Sofia Coppola perfectly contrasts the Elvis film from last year, showing how Priscilla had everything and yet nothing at all. Gorgeous movie from beginning to end

This cool, unhurried movie is firmly anchored by a spectacularly modulated performance by Caillee Speeney.
Priscilla is not an emotional epic, nor is it a furious correction of the record. It is, instead, a convincing and humane sketch of a young woman caught up in something vast and eternally defining. She may as well be wandering Versailles.
Priscilla is incisive in its portrayal of its central relationship, but it needs a little less conversation, a little more action when it comes to its heroine's path to self-determination.
Priscilla’s delicate mystique struggles to free itself from an oppressive mood board imposed from without by six decades of history.
Priscilla gives us little idea of the inner workings of Priscilla Presley. She’s an enigma in what is supposed to be a story of her empowerment.
An intimate portrayal of fascination turning into love, girlhood in evolution towards womanhood, of the turn towards independence. Almost Proust-like, in the depiction of forms of captivity and of a journey towards self-discovery. The background and otherness (violent, intense, tragic) is always felt but never takes the main stage.

Well, Elvis isn't much like Elvis in this film. He seems way too weak and certainly not vibrant. I don't know why they picked him as Elvis. It makes no sense. However how Priscilla is portrayed is really beautiful. Of course the film is full of Sofia Coppola's style of sensitivity and femininity as I remember in Lost in Translation, which is an amazing film.
I have to admit I didn't watch the whole thing because I didn't really like Elvis in this film much. However, it's nice to see a portrayal of this relationship from Priscilla's point of view. She deserves it.

Another beautiful Sophia Coppola movie. I thought the costumes stole the show. It was enjoyable. Slices of Priscilla’s life with Elvis. Kept me entertained enough, but not enough story to make it something I’d recommend.

all meat no bone. While the acting in this film can be really great. the overall story keep repeating itself over and over. The movie is mere scenes and sequences with no real cohesion. Cailee spaeney revealed at the Savannah FF that this movie was shot in 30 days and to be honest i can tell. It doesnt feel to have a whole lot of coordination as it seems they just shot a simple story but with no real idea how it all pieces together. Its really strange. not bad but also not the greatest thing in the world. Still better than Baz Luhrmans Elvis
